Dear Residents,
Congratulations to Jammu for being selected under Smart City Mission. It's an opportunity for us to leverage on the faith and trust which Centre has shown to us. I would want everyone to know the developments which are planned for the city under various verticals, essential and strategic directions of which are:
Identity and Cultural Fabric: Unique identity for distinguishing it from other cities, based on key aspects like location or climate; leading industries, cultural heritage, local culture (Dogra for Jammu) and cuisine, or other factors which defines the city. This would also promote 'Brand Tourism Destination'.
Citizen's Participation or Inclusivity: Constantly adapting strategies that incorporate views of its citizens to bring maximum benefit to all and to increase the Happiness Quotient of the city.
Transportation & Mobility: A well planned transportation along with sufficient parking areas, which encourages the citizens to use Public Transport as much as possible with a focus on Last Mile connectivity; Designing roads equally for pedestrians, physically disabled, cyclists and vehicles keeping safety in mind; encourage walking by planting trees wherever possible for sheds and providing ample lighting so that the pedestrian feels safe at all times. This would also include ample Way finding Signages, so that locals as well as tourists don't feel lost.
Open and Green Space: Sufficient and usable public open spaces with Green Interventions as much as possible for improving air quality, promoting exercise, outdoor recreation and interactions for all age groups. This would also focus on reduction of Carbon Footprint; Regional Community Led Growth Centres, Inclusive areas with improved accessibility, development of NMT zones etc.

Intelligent Government Services: Enabling easy interaction with its citizens, eliminating delays and frustrations in interactions with government; citizen friendly E-Governance.
Energy Supply: Reliable 24/7 electricity supply with no delays in requested hook-ups; at least 10% of electricity generated by renewables.
Water Supply: Reliable 24/7 supply of water meeting national health standards.
Waste-Water Management: Advanced water management programs, including wastewater recycling, smart meters, rainwater harvesting, and green infrastructure for managing storm water runoff.
Energy Efficiency: Promoting state-of-the-art energy efficiency practices in buildings, street-lights, and transit systems.
Sanitation: No open defecation, construction of public toilets wherever possible.

Solid Waste Management: Removing household and commercial garbage and disposing it in an environmentally and economically sound manner.
